This article presents the development of the concept of self-justice from the epistemological approach of four elements, namely: restorative, legitimate, local/popular and identity. The study acknowledges and takes community practices for conflict resolution based on ancestral knowledge, culture and collective identity as a starting point, which resulted from observation and interviews conducted with Afro-Colombian population from Orito, in the Department of Putumayo, Colombia. This analysis identifies an oral justice procedure, led by various authorities in Afro-Colombian territory, which stablishes formulas of agreement that provide integral reparation to the parties involved, as well as a reconstruction of the social fabric. © 2024, Universidad Catolica de Colombia.
