This article explores accessibility in Learning Management Systems (LMS) for visually impaired individuals, a group significantly impacted by online education. Through a comparative analysis of various LMS platforms, features such as screen reader integration, text and image magnification tools, and accessible navigation schemes are evaluated, which are critical for inclusive and equitable education. Current shortcomings are highlighted, and recommended practices and emerging technologies that improve interaction for visually impaired users are suggested. The study identifies necessary improvement areas to transform LMS into truly inclusive virtual learning environments, emphasizing the importance of removing barriers to facilitate access to education, a fundamental right. The findings point towards creating digital educational spaces that actively promote personal development and the inclusion of visually impaired individuals. © 2024, Associacao Iberica de Sistemas e Tecnologias de Informacao.
