This article analyzes the relationship between image and music in the German series Dark, focusing on the year 1986. The mixed methodology employed combines quantitative and hermeneutic analyses to determine if there is a direct connection between both elements. Various aspects of music are examined, such as its diegetic or extradiegetic nature, instrumentality, lyrics, and genre, both by artist and by song. The results reveal a non-direct relationship between the temporality of the image and music, as the latter, although set in the 1980s, is produced in the 21st century. Classical and new romantic genres predominate, suggesting a referential use of nostalgia through stylistic imitation of eighties music. Finally, a nostalgic intentionality in current musical production is evidenced, aiming to evoke the aesthetics of that era. © 2024, Universidad Complutense Madrid. All rights reserved.
