| spa |
dc.description | In today's reality, mental health is a topic that has gone through a process of normalization, though it cannot be neglected that there has been a lot of years of disinformation and negative portrayals of the mental health sector. This is due to the interpretations the Film and the entertainment industry have constructed upon the subject. This is how this investigation analyzes the film Girl Interrupted (1999) through the conceptual metaphor theory, different classifications of the stereotyped psychiatric patients, the metaphorical representations of depression and the concepts of structural análisis of a screenplay. Using a method of análisis it is demonstrated how the film balances these past concepts to create a movie that is not solely based on stereotypes to narrate the mental state of its characters, but actually searched for unique methods of representing them. | eng |
