In recent years, in many Latin American countries, the rights of nature have been enshrined in the Constitution. The main objective is to bear in mind an indigen view of nature. In the following article we will examine whether the arguments for granting rights to nature can also be derived of the Western thought’s tradition. History of the «living nature» concept will also be taken into account, from Aristotle to the present day, as well as his relevance for the legal statute of nature. The question of the intrinsic value of nature is of particular importance here. © PENSAMIENTO.
